Working Group IV/6: Global Databases Supporting Environmental Monitoring

Goals:

• Encourage the development of global databases for mapping and monitoring natural resources and the environment, with special emphasis on availability and quality.
• Foster the establishment of comprehensive metadata which should be available through the internet and the World Wide Web (WWW).
• Develop and promulgate mapping and modeling techniques appropriate for environmental applications.
• Stimulate cooperation between international and national organizations with interests in resource management and inventory.
